Inès Holzbaur, PhD

Inès is Founder and Managing Partner of AmorChem. She has been instrumental in creating the innovative investment model of this early-stage life sciences fund, as well as in developing its operations and day-to-day activities. She is responsible for several investments and has been actively involved in transactions with large pharmaceutical companies, including Hoffman LaRoche and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Inès also served as Chair of the Board of Directors of NuChem Sciences, a growing medicinal chemistry services provider, from its founding through its management buyout. Her role in the life sciences ecosystem extends beyond AmorChem: she is a member of the College of Reviewers of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Biotechnology Innovation Centre as well as Chair of the Board of the Nanomedicine Innovation Network. Active participant in various committees of Réseau-Capital and Montréal InVivo, she has also been bringing a life sciences perspective to the Creative Destruction Lab-Montreal-Artificial Intelligence for several years.

After joining the venture capital industry in the late 90’s as an intern for the GeneChem family of funds, she quickly rose through the ranks to become a Senior Associate. Inès holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, a Certificate in Leadership from the Institute of Corporate Directors as well as a Certificate in Private Capital Governance from the Canadian Venture Capital Association.
