This project aims to bring a Y-shaped fixation system for the greater trochanter to the stage of obtaining regulatory approval. This system will be used to improve the fixation of the greater trochanter, a part of the femur which is often fractured as a complication of total hip replacement surgery, thereby increasing the chances of the fracture being properly healed. This program, led by Drs. Yvan Petit and Yves Laflamme from the École de technologie supérieure and Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal, has been successful in obtaining approval from the FDA and Health Canada.
