Deborah Slipetz, PhD
Deborah has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Her current role at Merck Research Laboratories is the development of preclinical to clinical translational biomarkers for all therapeutic areas. Deborah has a broad depth of experience in drug discovery across multiple therapeutic areas. Prior to this, she served as Executive Director, In-Vivo Pharmacology responsible for cardiovascular, diabetes, neuroscience, infectious diseases, respiratory, immunology and oncology. Her biology expertise lies in respiratory and immunology and she held the position of therapeutic area lead for this franchise in Boston. Deborah has earned roles of increasing importance over her career, as evidenced by her role as the Respiratory and Immunology therapeutic area lead for 14 preclinical drug development programs. She has also participated in over 25 projects that entered clinical studies, was an Early Development Team lead for a glaucoma project and a key member of the team that discovered Singulair. She began her career at Merck Frosst, Montreal and transferred to MRL Boston in 2009. Deborah holds an MSc in molecular genetics and a PhD in pharmacology, both from McGill University.
